M：Hey, Mary, what's up?

喂，瑪麗，最近怎么樣?

F：Just so so. Last night I met this great guy at the bar and we had such a wonderful time, so we decided to meet again tonight.

還行吧，昨天晚上在酒吧里遇到一個(gè)特別好的人，我們玩得非常開心，于是決定今天晚上再見一面。

M：Oh, that's exciting. What does this guy look like? Is he hot?

哦，真不錯(cuò)。這個(gè)人長(zhǎng)得什么樣啊，帥嗎?

F：Well, I didn't think so at first. But as we started talking, I found him extremely funny and witty. I couldn't stop laughing at his jokes! And we have so much in common. We like the same team, music, and most amazingly, we both love Chinese food! I have the feeling that we are going to be great friends.

我剛開始的時(shí)候不覺得，可是聊起天來(lái)，我發(fā)現(xiàn)他特別風(fēng)趣幽默，他講的笑話讓我笑個(gè)不停。而且我們還有很多共同點(diǎn)，我們喜歡同一支球隊(duì)，相同的音樂(lè)，最不可思議的是，我們都喜歡中國(guó)菜!我覺得我們會(huì)成為很好的朋友的。

M：It seems you two are a good match. What qualities do you look for in a friend?

看來(lái)你們倆還挺般配的。你找朋友時(shí)看重什么品質(zhì)呢?

F：There's nothing definite I think. I don't have a list or anything, but when I first meet somebody, I can usually tell whether or not that person is going to be a good friend. It seems I have radar helping me spot new friends.

我覺得并不是非要有特別的品質(zhì)。我沒有什么特別的要求，但是當(dāng)我第一次遇見一個(gè)人時(shí)，我通常能知道他能不能成為我的好朋友。我好像擁有一個(gè)雷達(dá)，幫助我在人群中找到我的朋友。

M：Well, that's something I've never heard of. But if you ask me what I value most in a friend, I would say honesty.

還沒聽過(guò)這個(gè)說(shuō)法呢，但是要我說(shuō)什么是朋友最重要的品質(zhì)，我覺得就是誠(chéng)實(shí)。

F：I agree. You can't expect a close relationship with a dishonest person. Those are the people that will turn their back on you when you are in need.

我同意你的說(shuō)法，和一個(gè)不誠(chéng)實(shí)的人在一起肯定不會(huì)有深層次的交往，他們往往會(huì)在你需要的時(shí)候離你而去。

M：Yeah, I know. A friend in need is a friend indeed. I don't need fair-weather friends either.

是的，我知道，患難見真情。我也不想要只能同甘不能共苦的朋友。
