讀者 Jo Chan 問：下面兩句，哪一句對(duì)？
1. He climbed down the building.
2. He climbed down from the building.
兩句都有人說，但嚴(yán)格來說，如果只是說「他從大樓爬下來」，from 實(shí)屬不必，所以第一句比較「正確」。但這并不是說 climb down 后面一定不可以加 from，至少下面兩個(gè)情況需要加 from。
第一，兩個(gè)工人在大廈里清潔，一個(gè)在天臺(tái)，一個(gè)在五樓，下班的時(shí)候：One worker climbed down from the roof; the other climbed down from the fifth floor.
第二，如果意思不單是爬下來，而且還要離開剛爬下的東西，而那東西又不是大廈那么巨大，那么 from 不但不覺累贅，反而令句子的意思更清楚：
At the end of a long journey, the tired bus driver climbed down from the bus and let out a sigh.
長途旅程結(jié)束，疲倦的巴士司機(jī)從巴士爬下來，嘆一口氣。
